Arrangements by Paul Campbell

Belfast-born composer/arranger Paul Campbell spends his time writing for concert, recording, film and broadcast. With a wealth of experience across a wide array of genres in the musical world, Paul has written numerous times for the BBC Proms, entertained British Royalty and written for every major symphony orchestra in the UK and Ireland. His work has been recorded at the three major orchestral studio spaces in London - Abbey Road Studios, AIR Lyndhurst and British Grove Studios.

From Classical and Crossover to Pop, Big Band and Light Music, Paul has also written for many household musical names, including: West End star and Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow (Love to Love, Vol. 2), internationally renowned flutist Sir James Galway (BBC Songs of Praise) and Decca Classics bestselling artist, violinist Nicola Benedetti (Bestselling "Homecoming" album - 2014 iTunes Classical Album of the Year). Amongst many others, Paul has written arrangements for: KT Tunstall, Russell Watson, Celtic Woman, Tony Christie, Brendan Cole (Strictly Come Dancing) , Andrea Begley (winner of The Voice UK), Joanne Hogg (IONA), Keith and Kristyn Getty, Vladimir Ashkenazy (conductor) and Wayne Sleep (dancer/choreographer).

Paul's longstanding friendship with conductor John Wilson has led to some fascinating work, reconstructing famous film musical scores from the libraries of MGM, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox and others, including complete reconstructions of An American in Paris, Singin' in the Rain, Hello! Dolly and My Fair Lady (for the 2012 season of the BBC Proms).

Paul has been orchestrating for film composer Guy Farley on a number of recent projects, including orchestrating all of the cues for Bear Grylls Live Arena tour (Autumn 2016), A Good American (Guy Farley and Christopher Slaski) (Beset Score Nominee - Austrian Film Awards 2017), Anthropoid, That Good Night (2017, starring John Hurt) and for festive commercials for Morrison's and the BBC.

Away from his desk, Paul treasures his family time with wife, Susie, and their two young children - Bethany and Daniel. He enjoys photography and good food (a bit too much!).

A CHRISTMAS CAROL FANTASY

Arranged by Paul Campbell
Description: In its brief 3 year history, this arrangement has taken the UK by storm with some 26 performances and a French TV broadcast, and now we bring it to you, our clients! Songs included are: "Ding Dong Merrily On High," "The Sussex Carol," "Silent Night," "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen," and "Joy To The World." The scoring is extremely flexible with vocal parts for amplified soloist, SSA Treble chorus, or SATB chorus, or any combination of singers and choruses.
Comments: "I'm impressed with the orchestration which is not only well done, but doesn't overwhelm the SSA voices. That's a great skill and not one that everyone has when orchestration for children's voices. So thank you for suggesting it. I will use it again." — Christopher Bell - Conductor, RSNO, RTÉ and Ulster Orchestra Christmas concerts (20 per year), Conductor, National Youth Choir of Scotland, Chorus Director, Grant Park Chorus, Chicago, Chorusmaster, Edinburgh Festival Chorus.

"Paul Campbell's 'A Christmas Carol Fantasy' is a festive, elegant and bright piece that fits perfectly into an end of year concert with symphony orchestra. At Radio France, we were very happy to premiere the work in December 2012, where it served as our finale to a televised gala concert with l'Orchestre National de France. The writing is idiomatic, skillful and natural for all instruments involved including voice and made a great effect - both with the players and singers as with our audience and producers." — Sofi Jeannin - Musical Director of Choeur de Radio France et Maîtrise de Radio France.
